June as Indigenous Focus - Anti-Oppression Month
Saturday, June 21, is National Indigenous People’s Day! This is a day to celebrate and recognize the richness and resiliency of Indigenous peoples across our country. There are many celebrations held in many centers across our country and Province!
Milestone School wanted to ensure that we too recognize and celebrate this day that brings citizens together in recognition of each other!
Milestone School set out to have a focus in June on Indigenous understanding and Anti-Oppression learning opportunities. Both are valuable to consider as we grow our students’ abilities to perceive others as valid, worthy, and equal to themselves.
While individual classrooms will continue to explore, today, the varied perspectives that make up our modern Canadian Society, below is a listing of some of the cultural learnings the school has organized for our students through the last six weeks of school.
